Finally, an update

In Uncategorized on June 8, 2010 by pattibrotherton

I haven’t written in awhile as I have been travelling and making decisions on moving to take a new job. I was looking for a new challenge. So, all that said I am moving to Dana Point, California. We did not want to sell our house so it has been rented and we have found a rental in Dana Point to live in until we decide where to purchase. This is happening at the same time as I had to send my adorable dog, Bubbles, to heaven. That has been the last three weeks.

Friday morning we leave for Utah, Wyoming, and South Dakota for 16 days–a little speaking, and lots of sightseeing. This has been planned for many months and something that we have wanted to do for several years. I am going to be with family and visit cousins that I haven’t seen in years. When we return the movers will be at our house the next week and off we go…

It’s exciting to do new things. One thing for sure is that I am good at taking one thing at a time I have discovered. I’ll fill you in on more details about my work when I return from our trip. I will be writing the blog less often, but with more info on my life and new exciting adventures. I’ll give you updates on what is happening with the economy in my new hometown after I’m settled.

When you look around, there is a new opportunity just waiting to be unleashed!

One client at a time

In Uncategorized on May 13, 2010 by pattibrotherton

In order to do more business you need to focus on one client at a time and make sure that they are satisfied with the job you do. Every single person you are selling to is important no matter what so don’t try to put them off to help another, they will feel it. When you are with a client, that client is who you concentrate on not the next one. I believe that the best business model is the one where you focus on the people and not what you are going to make on the sale. Best way to do that is give them all your attention and work hard for them when you are with them and have fun. They’ll win and you’ll win.

Building your business

In Uncategorized on May 12, 2010 by pattibrotherton

Keeping pace with what you did last year is good, but I think we should always strive to do more. In order to grow you need to try new things. You need to prospect more. You need to work harder. When you are satisfied with your job, you are not doing enough. The true winners in life are always looking for ways to improve. A little more is always a good thing.

Rewards

In Uncategorized on May 11, 2010 by pattibrotherton

When I set my goals I always focused on the rewards I was going to get along the way as well. It is important for me to actually have tangible rewards for working hard such as a day at a luxusious spa or a shopping spree with a friend. I believe that having these rewards along the way keep me more focused on achieving. So, here I go–off to a special lunch with a friend because I am halfway to my goal for the year and it’s just May.

Show the love

In Uncategorized on May 10, 2010 by pattibrotherton

Mother’s Day is a special day for me. I think our sons are the best people on the planet and I am thankful to be their mom. I love everything about our boys. I hope that I have shown them over the years just how much I love them. Any success I had in life would be nothing without being able to share it with my family. So, today and every day I want to show them the love.

When you least expect it…

In Uncategorized on May 7, 2010 by pattibrotherton

something incredible comes out of the blue. I was thinking of putting off the new book I am writing and then I receive a phone call from a friend that she needs some advice on Alzheimer’s because her mom was just diagnosed with it. It made me feel good to give her some tips to help her cope with this horrible disease. Back to writing.

Hard work equals success

In Uncategorized on May 6, 2010 by pattibrotherton

I have been reading about entreprenuers who have started businesses on a shoestring and their phenomenal success. Every single one of them said that they worked 7 days a week for several years before their businesses really took off. What does that tell us? Persistence and hard work are the keys to every success model.

Loyalty

In Uncategorized on May 5, 2010 by pattibrotherton

Stay loyal to your clients or customers and they will stay loyal to you. Think of them first; refer people to their businesses; help them with discounts when they forget their coupons; if you haven’t seen them in some time, find out why and let them know you miss them. There is no better advertisement than word of mouth and when your clients will hear from you they will tell a friend. Loyalty is contagious.

Start each day with a focus

In Uncategorized on May 4, 2010 by pattibrotherton

There are many avenues to take in each business, but getting business would be the number one priority. If you don’t have clients how are you going to grow your business? There are many ways to get clients, but concentrate on one avenue at a time. In real estate it could be spending two hours calling past clients; then the next day spending two hours calling on expired listings; then the next day two hours on sending notes to absentee owners; and so on. Stay focused on one thing at a time and find great success.

Watch too much planning

In Uncategorized on May 3, 2010 by pattibrotherton

I have a good friend who wanted to start a business. She was so enthused and ready to go. She needed a business plan and got to work on it, and work, and work, until she got disappointed and never went beyond the business plan. What happened? She thought of every conceivable problem instead of every conceivable reward. Don’t let too much planning slow you down; you can always change direction if things don’t go right. But not starting means you don’t go anywhere.
